Unto the people who read these words, do we, Jean & Guillaine, Baron and Baroness Borealis, send our warmest regards and welcome to our Barony of Borealis.
Borealis is a place where all are welcome to come together for fellowship and fun, and we invite you to come out to our community events, our classes and our events to experience the SCA. We look forward to meeting you and sharing what our Barony has to offer.
Yours in Service,
Philippe de St-Denis, O.L. Seneschal of Borealis, unto the populace of the Barony of Borealis: Greetings.
Herein find the names and SCA resumes of the five couples who have entered the polling to wear the Baronial Coronets.
Be advised also that each of the candidates will be available for a Q&A regarding their vision(s) for the Barony at Tavern on Wednesday, February 8 at 7:00 at the Alberta Avenue Community Center.
Polling will follow on Wednesday, March 8 at the same location.
At this time, for newer members who have never been through a Baronial polling before, I want to emphasize that this is not a “vote.” Members of the Barony are entitled to a voice, but it is the Crown of Avacal who makes the final decision.
The Investiture of the Baronial Coronets will occur at Silverwolf in June.
Any further questions of concerns regarding the polling process may be directed to me via email Borealis dot seneschal at Avacal dot org.

The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an inclusive community pursuing research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat and culture. The lives of participants are enriched as we gain knowledge of history through activities, demonstrations, and events.
Starting as a backyard party in the 1960’s, the SCA has grown to include chapters in every large and mid-sized city in North America, along with chapters in such places as England, Sweden, South Africa, Australia and Japan.
The SCA is divided into 20 geographic regions known as kingdoms, with smaller chapters located inside each one. Locally, we are in the Barony of Borealis which encompasses the city of Edmonton, Alberta and surrounding lands. We are a part of the Kingdom of Avacal that includes Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Peace Region area of BC.
