1981: Success in formally becoming a shire of the Kingdom of the West in the Principality of An Tir.
1983: Our name and arms were registered with the College of Heralds. The arms blazon is “Azure, two wolf’s heads erased adored and conjoined at the neck argent within a laurel wreath Or”
The populace badge blazon is “Azure, two wolf’s heads erased adored and conjoined at the neck issuant from the battlements of a demi-tower argent”.
1984: Permission was sought and granted by the Kingdom and the BoD to form a Barony out of the 3 cantons of Aquilon, Schwanstein and Bordergate. Only by having no Baronial core group would this arrangement be allowed. The Canton of Aquilon (formed in Edmonton) would later to become Veraquilon and then Vatnsdalr. Later, the cantons of Schwanstein and Bordergate dissolved as groups, but Veraquilon, and Stonewolf (Lakeland) still formed the Barony. When Borealis was made a Barony, Conrad and Cristiona became Baron and Baroness.
1993: Conrad and Cristiona would step down as Baron and Baroness, and Rorik and Helena become the new Baron and Baroness. Rorik became Crown Prince, so the Baronial Champion, Albrecht von Rugen, served as Castilian during Their Reign.
1994: Rorik and Helena stepped down as Baron and Baroness and chose Adeline and Alfheim as new Castilians. They were later were made the Baron and Baroness.
1999: Adeline and Alfheim step down as Baron and Baroness, and John Macleod the Black and Kirstin MacBheath then became the new Baron and Baroness. Their Majesties accepted the group in Grande Prairie as the Incipient Canton of Vangaard (later Vinjar) as a new canton of Borealis.
2001: John MacLeod the Black and Kirstin MacBheath step down as Baron and Baroness. Magnus and Sidonia step up as new Baron and Baroness.
2003: A polling was taken to determine if the people of Borealis still wished retain this unique structure, as the Barony is vast.
2004:The Barony of Borealis made up of three groups was dissolved. Three Shires grew from this: Vatnsdalr (Edmonton), Stonewolf (Cold Lake), and Vinjar (Grande Prairie).
2004: In July, Vatnsdalr was officially renamed the Shire of Borealis by the SCA Board of Directors.
2006: In November, Borealis resumed Baronial status and Vik Vikingsson and Inga the Unfettered became the new Baron and Baroness.
2008: Vik Vikingsson won the Crown Tournament and Reme the Burgundian served as Castilian during Their reign.
2011: Vik and Inga stepped down as Baron and Baroness. Reme the Burgundian and Divera della Cava became the new Baron and Baroness.
2012: The first Baronial Bardic Championship was held at Yule Feast.
2017:Reme the Burgundian and Divera della Cava stepped down as Baron and Baroness. Robert of Clan Gunn and Olena Borisova became the new Baron and Baroness.
2018: The first Baronial Youth Championship was held at Silverwolf
2018: Robert of Clan Gunn and Olena Borisova stepped down as Baron and Baroness. Jean de Chauliac and Guillaine Rosalind de Gualle became the new Baron and Baroness.
2023: Jean de Chauliac and Guillaine Rosalind de Gualle stepped down as Baron and Baroness. Aman Brennan and Sarah of Tarragon became the new Baron and Baroness.
